Mark your calendars on September 25-27, 2024, because International Colleges for Excellence, Inc. (ICE) is about to take off on its first culminating event this school year — the Malaya: LuzViMinda. ICEans are all buckled up to take us on an illuminating journey of diversity and creativity, as they showcase their skills and talents in various categories: group dancing, singing, cooking, acting, and modeling.
With the theme being “MALAYA” or freedom, along with the Philippines’ three main island regions, brace yourselves for a whirlwind of empowering and cultural performances presented by the exceptional teachers, students, parents, faculty, and staff of ICE!
On the first two days, September 25-26, 2024, Preschool to Junior High School (Nursery to Grade 10) is set to perform in four different groups: Luzon (Grade 2, Grade 3, and Grade 9), Visayas (Nursery, Grade 5, and G rade 10), Mindanao (Grade 1, Grade 4, and Grade 8), and Palawan (Kinder, Grade 6, and Grade 7).
Presenting the highlights of the event about to shake us all up in Preschool to Junior High School Faculty:
September 25, 2024 (Wednesday)
Mangan Kila: A Taste of the Regions. Each group will be cooking live in front of the judges the signature dishes inspired by the flavors, traditions, and culinary heritage of their region.
September 26, 2024 (Thursday)
Tanghalan: It is a variety show that promises a spectacular showcase of talents and collaboration, where students from different grade levels unite to perform different cultural dances from their region. There will be singing, dancing, and even acting all in one performance, while also displaying the different traditional clothing of each main island in the Philippines.
Tadhana: As Malaya’s commitment to education, the event will also be featuring an engaging pre-recorded video presentation, wherein the videos will consist of informational and fun facts about the different regions.
Rampa: Students and teachers will take to the runway, showcasing the traditional clothing styles of various regions. The fashion parade will not only highlight the aesthetic beauty of cultural garments but also their historical significance. Expect a vibrant exhibition of tradition and fashion in this captivating fashion parade of regional attire.
The following day, September 27, 2024, the Senior High School (Grade 11 and Grade 12) will also take us on the performances of another set of groups: ONE Direction (Group 1), PantropiTWO (Group 2), TRESaya (Group 3), and 4DaGo (Group 4).

September 27, 2024 (Friday)
Indak: The physical fitness dance competition that will awaken our bodies and lift up our spirits with energetic steps. It emphasizes the value of a healthy lifestyle that comes along with maintaining a physically fit body through engaging aerobic dances.
Sinag. Delving into the gleaming and glowing beauty of visual arts, the Sinag or Murals (Street Art) will paint our hearts with vibrant colors and hues as each group displays a Graffiti piece with the theme, “Pusong payapa tungo sa buhay na Malaya,” which means the essence of a peaceful heart towards freedom.
Rampa. Be ready to be taken into the fantastical realm of manga, anime, and video games. This cosplay extravaganza will capture the creative, imaginative, and innovative minds of the participants as they bring to the runway their self-made designs and portraying the character of their chosen roles.
Hataw. Philippines is a land of colorful cultural heritage that can be expressed through vernacular dances, called the Street or Festival Dance. This category aims to show the rich culture, tradition, and customs of different regions by means of powerful dances, strong beats, and lively costumes.
The ICE “Malaya: LuzViMinda” event is not just about competition; it’s more about the camaraderie and the memories that will be created along the way. The lasting friendships and bonds that transcend over time. Every ICEan by heart, let us all enjoy this magic carpet ride experience as we celebrate for freedom, unity, and diversity!
